Sortir Anthony Fletcher du couloir de la mort

Comme je vous l'avais dit (News d'Anthony - Lettre du 23 juillet ) j'avais contacté mon réseau local d'Amnesty International. N'ayant pas eu de réponse j'ai contacté le comité "contre la peine de mort". J'ai eu une réponse le jour même. La voici :

"Bonjour Pascale,

Anthony Fletcher est condamné à mort en Pennsylvanie et n'a pas de date d'exécution.

Amnesty International intervient en faveur  des condamnés à mort lorsqu'ils ont épuisé tous leurs appels et qu'une date d'exécution est annoncée. Ceci parce que de part le monde, il y a au moins 20 000 condamnés à mort et que l'organisation ne peut pas s'occuper de tous.

Ceci dit, je ne vois pas de scandale à tenter d'aider cet ancien boxeur qui mériterait un nouveau procès.

Communiquer avec lui peut être un réconfort, la vie dans les quartiers des condamnés à mort étant extrêmement difficile, aux USA comme partout dans les pays qui maintiennent ce chatiment.

Pour vous rassurer, la Pennsylvanie n'est pas une Etat "exécuteur" dans le sens où il n'y a eu que trois exécutions depuis 1977, la dernière datant de 1999. Dans le même temps, le Texas a procédé à 439 exécutions... "

Mon correspondant me donne aussi les coordonnées de deux associations françaises succeptibles de m'aider. Et me souhaite bon courage.

Je le remercie de sa réponse que j'imaginais dans ce sens : mais qui tente rien n'a rien...

Je continue donc mes investigations auprès de l'une des deux associations.

As I had said to it to you (Anthony's New - Letter of July 23rd) I had contacted my local area network of Amnesty International. Having had no answer I contacted the committee " against the capital punishment ". I had an answer the same day. Here it is:

" Hello Pascale, 
Anthony Fletcher is condemned to death in Pennsylvania and has no date of execution. 
Amnesty International intervenes in favour of the persons condemned to death when they exhausted all their appeals and when a date of execution is announced. This because from part the world, there are at least 20 000 persons condemned to death and because the organization cannot take charge of all. 
Having said that, I do not see scandal to be tried to help this former boxer who would deserve a new lawsuit. 
To communicate with him can be a comfort, the life in the districts of the persons condemned to death being extremely difficult, in the USA as everywhere in the countries which maintain this chatiment. 

To reassure you, Pennsylvania is not one "executive" State in the direction where there were only three executions since 1977, the last one dating 1999. At the same time, Texas proceeded to 439 executions... "

My correspondent also gives me the address and coordinates of two French associations succeptibles to help me. And wishes me good courage.

I thank him for the answer which I imagined in this direction: but who tempts nothing has anything...

I thus continue my investigations with one of both associations.
